Your reading is personal.
Privacy information for Foliere on the web and iOS. Updated 17 October 2026. Contact support@ummahsignal.com about your data.
Reading on your device
You can read, highlight, take notes and export without an account. The website keeps this library in your browser; the iOS app keeps it on your device. Clearing browser storage, uninstalling the app or erasing a local library can remove these copies. Export anything you want to keep first.
On-device Apple Intelligence
On an eligible iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence available, you can explicitly choose on-device answers in the app. A bounded excerpt of your saved text, your question and any follow-up context are processed on the device. Generation requests stay on your device and are not uploaded to our service. If Apple Intelligence is unavailable or a request fails, Foliere shows the reason and does not automatically switch to Managed answers. Saved answers and briefs remain in your library and sync to your private account only when you separately enable library synchronization.
Accounts and synchronization
When you sign in and enable synchronization, your account identifier, saved documents and metadata, reading positions, highlights, notes, saved answers and briefs are stored on our service so your library can follow you between the website and app. Clerk handles authentication; Neon hosts the shared database. Local libraries and synchronization queues are separated by account.
Optional answers and web search
Foliere manages cloud processing through its service; readers do not supply provider API keys. When you consent, asking about a text sends relevant document text, the selected passage, your question and conversation context to the configured processor. The service includes authentication, ownership checks and usage limits. Answers can be incorrect.
Web search is a separate choice. When available and enabled for a request, it sends a search query to Exa and retrieves external sources. Managed answers use OpenAI through Vercel AI Gateway. We request that prompts are not used for model training and disable response storage where supported; these controls do not promise zero retention across all processors. Hosted voice generation is currently unavailable. Local reading and offline system listening do not require these services. Optional scanned-PDF processing and generated covers are unavailable until their managed processing paths are enabled; ordinary text-based PDF import remains local. We show unavailable states without claiming a completed result.
Links, connections and service records
Opening or importing a link contacts its source website, which receives normal network information. Agent connections access your synchronized library through a token you create; anyone holding that token has its granted access until expiry or revocation. Hosting, database and authentication providers process network and operational records needed to provide and secure the service.
Your choices
You can export your reading archive, remove documents and annotations, revoke agent connections, sign out, and erase the active device library. Local erasure does not delete the server copy or your account. Use Delete account in account settings to request removal of your synchronized library and identity. Access is blocked while deletion is processed; an identity-provider failure is shown as pending so it can be retried. A minimal deletion record prevents an old session from restoring erased content.
For a data access request or help with deletion, contact support@ummahsignal.com from the address associated with your account. We may need to verify ownership. Records required for legal or security reasons and provider backups may remain subject to their retention policies.
Provider information
Authentication and storage policies are available from Clerk and Neon. Optional hosted-processing policies are available from OpenAI, Vercel and Exa. These are processor disclosures, not a requirement to create a provider account. This page will be updated when enabled services or data practices change.
